What your notice needs
- Your physical or electronic signature, or the signature of someone authorised to act for the rights holder.
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed. If several works are involved, a representative list is enough.
- The material you want removed and enough information for us to find it: a link, book title, ISBN and screenshot where possible.
- Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address so we can contact you.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, their agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them.
What happens next
We review notices and remove or replace the cover, text or other material when appropriate, usually within two working days. We may ask for more information to identify the material or your authority. Where material was uploaded by a reader, we may notify them and share the notice with them, including your contact details.
Counter-notices
If your material was removed because of a mistake or misidentification, send a counter-notice through the form above or to the designated agent below. Include your physical or electronic signature; identify the material and where it appeared before removal; and state, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification.
Include your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the US federal district court for your address (or, if you live outside the United States, a district where BookWorms may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the notice or their agent.
We may forward your counter-notice to that person. Where the DMCA applies, we may restore the material between 10 and 14 working days after receiving a valid counter-notice, unless we receive notice that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the alleged infringement.
Repeated infringement
We may restrict uploads or close accounts of readers who repeatedly upload infringing material, in appropriate circumstances. Please do not upload covers, photos or text you do not have the right to share.
